MORTAL SIN

Written by Benjamin Reilly

Directed by Lee Coffey

Performed by Osolde Fenton & Benjamin Reilly

**** The Arts Review

‘a very special new talent’ - Sunday Independent

‘poignant, bittersweet, and heartfelt.’  - Irish Independent

"Fertile ground for high comedy... Reilly and Fenton are razor sharp" - No More Workhorse

JFK’s been shot – and Colm and Peggy want a day off school. Sure, they got one when the pope died!?

"Following a sell-out and critically acclaimed debut run at Bewleys Café Theatre, Mortal Sin comes to The Viking.

In the wake of JFK’s assassination, Colm and Peggy, two best friends in the town of Cundannon hatch a plan - stage a protest and get a day off school to honour the fallen U.S. president. Sure, they got one when the Pope died?

Mortal Sin is a bold, heartfelt, and sharply witty exploration of what it means to grow up different in an Ireland where the Church controls everything from the classroom to confession.

Through rapid-fire monologues, character switches and flashes of fantasy, Colm and Peggy paint a vivid portrait of their world, from Sunday mass to Audrey Hepburn.

Blending satire, nostalgia, and righteous teenage frustration, Mortal Sin is ultimately a celebration of friendship - a small but defiant stand against the silence and shame that shaped a generation.

Colm and Peggy stick it to the man... well, Sister Assumpta anyway."

NORTHERN LIGHTS

NORTHERN LIGHTS

Written & directed by Stephen Jones

Performed by Louise Bourke and Carl Maher

The play that became the hit television series.

A thoroughly engaging, emotionally articulate, funny and clever work’ ***** Irish Independent.

‘A heartfelt joy, a bittersweet delight’ **** The Arts Review

From the writer of ‘From Eden’ and ‘Summerhill’ comes ‘Northern Lights’.

On a dark, wet night, Lloyd notices Áine standing alone on a bridge and, fearing the worst, decides to intervene. As secrets, confessions and pain unravel, the pair find in each other a fragile hope; a light shining through grief. What begins as an act of compassion becomes an exploration of loss, connection and unlikely redemption. Touching, raw and tender, Northern Lights is a portrait of two people seeking to heal and finding that perhaps the greatest comfort lies in human connection.

The play premiered in 2018 and was nominated for the Irish Times Theatre Award for ‘Best New Play’. It was then adapted into a six part Television Series, produced by Deadpan Pictures and Lionsgate. It was nominated for 4 IFTA Awards

SALLY’S RETURN

A world premiere written by Michael J.Harnett Directed by Vinnie McCabe Performed by Ann Russell, Brid McCarthy & Owen O’Gorman

When the past explodes in the present

Not since she left for England over four decades ago, with her then boyfriend Martin, has Sally been back to Cabra in Dublin.

As innocent teens in the early stages of the troubles, they left for London, where Martin perhaps in naivety, joined the RAF.

This was a move that led to him being seriously assaulted when he came home for his mother’s funeral years later.

Martin would never recover from that incident.

Now Sally is back to confront those who made her life a misery.

At a wedding in a hotel outside Dublin, she finds the courage to tackle one of those responsible.

Believing that closure to past events is her real salvation, Sally faces her fear and frees herself from the shackles of the past.

Sally’s Return is a play about hope, a story of how courage, even in the bleakest of times, can restore our belief that life is worth living.
