TROPICAL FISH IN THE TOLKA
Written by Michael J. Harnett
Starring Owen O’Gorman, Pat Sullivan,
Heather Hennessy & Jamie Brunty.
1014 Productions.
Hilarious, side splitting comedy.
It’s November. Halloween. Cold and damp. And about to get worse. Because Matilda, the tornado, is on her way. First thunder. Then rain. Then a deluge of water that bursts from the sky. All a disaster for Liz and Bob Bradshaw whose roof leaks like a sieve
And, to pile on the misery, a planning notice goes up next door. A mystery speculator wants to knock down the neighbour’s house and build a block of apartments.
The action of Tropical Fish in The Tolka takes place in the radio drama studio of FM101.4, a fictious station called after the date of the Battle of Clontarf in 1014.
In the studio we meet four actors who bring to life all the crazy events that take place in the Bradshaw household in the North Strand over Halloween.
Set against the fallout of the calamitous weather caused by Matilda the tornado, the threat of a new apartment development being built next door, the dubious activity of a suspect roofing contractor, not to mention the claim that tropical fish have been seen in the Tolka, this new play by Michael J. Harnett sets out to unashamedly create an evening of fun and enjoyment.
