Joxer Daly is a much-loved character in Sean O’Casey’s masterpiece ‘Juno And The Paycock’. Joxer is a ‘butty’ of Captain Boyle, the father of the family, and lives by his wits. He is like a rodent, loitering in hallways and the surrounding streets hoping to hear something or pick something up that might be to his advantage. Eddie Naughton’s Joxer Daly Esq examines the effect of the rapidly changing times from the Lockout in 1913, when British soldiers and police force were part and parcel of everyday life, through the events and fallout of the Easter Rising, the subsequent War of Independence and Civil War on this inhabitant of Dublin’s inner city. Brilliantly portrayed by veteran comic actor Phelim Drew, this production was first performed in Dublin at Bewley’s Cafe Theatre in 2018 directed by the much loved and lamented Karl Shiels and went on to enjoy a successful  at The Viking Theatre in 2020. We are delighted to welcome  Phelim back to Clontarf as he revives the role of JOXER DALY ESQ.
